WHY?
Like many long-established businesses, Ulceby Grange Farm is facing increasing costs, which makes day-to-day operations more challenging. Energy use is a significant part of running the site, and demand continues to grow as the business evolves and as technology changes. Managing energy use in a way that is both economically sensible and environmentally responsible is therefore very important to us.
The existing turbine has experienced repeated technical issues and is no longer capable of providing reliable electricity. Following a further failure, it became clear that continuing with the current equipment was not a practical long-term option.
This proposal is therefore about securing the future of the farm and its operations. By upgrading to an efficient, better-supported turbine, the business can improve reliability, better manage energy use, and continue operating sustainably. As a local business that contributes to the local economy in many ways, this project will help us continue to support the community and operate sustainably for future generations.
WHO'S INVOLVED?
Cogeo Planning & Environmental Services Ltd.
Completing the planning and environmental assessments
Rengineers B.V
Deployment partner providing refurbished turbines and full support
Working together to make sure the new turbine is designed and planned in a way that is efficient, environmentally responsible, and suitable for the site.
WHATS CHANGING?
The new turbine will be an efficient three-bladed model, with only a minimal increase in height and a small shift in position. These adjustments keep the turbine safely away from hedges while improving efficiency and reliability. The upgraded model is designed for long-term performance and will integrate well with the surrounding landscape and existing renewable energy developments, making a positive cumulative contribution to local energy generation. The changes are modest, but the benefits are significant - better reliability, more energy, and lower maintenance demands.
