The farm has high energy demands, and this is only expected to increase as the business continues to develop. Manor House Farm is a mixed agricultural business involving free-range egg production and arable farming, alongside an on-site feed mill that supplies the farm and two other sites operated by the business. To operate efficiently on a daily basis – supporting the running of the poultry buildings, grain drying, and feed production – reliable energy is crucial.

As the business grows and moves toward greater electrification, including making the feed mill fully electric, on-site electricity demand will escalate. The existing turbine already contributes to the farm’s energy needs, but upgrading to a newer, more efficient turbine would allow the farm to generate more renewable electricity and better support its future operations.

The proposal is about investing in the long-term future of Manor House Farm. The electricity generated will primarily support the wider agricultural business, with a combination of electricity used on-site and surplus energy exported to the grid. Income from exported electricity will contribute to the cost of upgrading the turbine, supporting the farm’s long-term viability while allowing the business to operate in a more sustainable way.
