Snowdonia Solar Success

Snowdonia Solar Success

As part of our work with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water we have successfully achieved planning consent for five sites within Snowdonia National Park.

As part of Welsh Water's 2050 document the company state :

“Faced with a changing climate and increased energy costs, we will aim to become an energy neutral business whilst maximising the opportunities to reuse treated water and other potentially valuable natural materials, contributing to the circular economy”

Within this strategy Cogeo are assisting the company with planning consents for renewable energy projects across their portfolio of sites. This includes offices, waste water treatment works, pumping stations and reservoirs.

Our Planning Team worked closely with the National Park Authority to ensure all planning and environmental regulations and policies were adhered to in full. With the potential visual impact being a key consideration Welsh Water took the innovative step of proposing black solar panels to reduce the contrast with the slate roofs of their buildings.

The solar pv panels will generate energy that is consumed onsite and reduce DCWW's reliance on the national grid network. With energy bills rising and renewable technology prices falling solar remains an excellent investment for companies looking to tackle their increasing energy costs.
