Another Biomass Boiler Planning Consented

Another Biomass Boiler Planning Consented

Anyone who owns a biomass boiler knows that they are not free to run. That's why Ofgem's policy of suspending RHI payments for boilers without planning permission means our Consultants have to make sure our applications progress as quickly as possible.

Working with Farmers, Landowners and Businesses across the UK, Cogeo have been providing support to help restart RHI payments that had been suspended when it was discovered the installation had no planning permission.

"A lot of our clients had been informed that their boiler didn't need planning permission when it was installed" says Cogeo's Director, Dave Anderson. He continues "Companies had informed people that they were under permitted development, which doesn't apply to installs over 45kW. Understanding that some Farmers have not received  payments for 18 months, we knew that if we provide high quality information we will get planning consented as quickly as possible. That's why some of our applications have taken as little as 4 weeks to get approval".

Our latest application was consented by Dumfries and Galloway Council for two 1MW boilers.

With Farmers and Landowners highlighting the lengthy delays in requests for information from Ofgem there is one clear message from Cogeo: Get ahead of the game. If you have planning permission in place prior to your audit you can save yourself time and money by keeping your RHI payments on track.
